We've been on the net since 1997 offering
Bali as an awesome travel destination and
fantastic source of high quality arts and
craft products.
What we have to offer at Okypanditabali.Com is
online cataloging, messaging and transaction
services combined with great content on
Indonesian art and craft styles, traditions
and techniques. Our trading community is
composed of pre-qualified suppliers that are
required to undergo our strict evaluation
process. To qualify their product must be
export quality and their services World class.
At Okypanditabali.Com our strengths are our
team, technology and network. The craft team
has been carefully selected and consists of
professionals with extensive experience in
everything from export trade and fine art to
product development and manufacturing. Our
Technology development team is one of the best
in Bali and excellent by the standards of any
country in the world. Finally, our craft
network is far-reaching which has helped us
build a great craft community. Some of our
member vendors are internationally recognized
designers and suppliers to high end retails
stores in Europe and the USA ( Pier 1 Imports,
Habitat , Cost Plus and Others ).
At Okypanditabali.Com the buyer does not pay
any commissions or fees ( for the time being
anyway .. this may change ).
We are a B-2-B ( Business-to-business )
Internet sourcing solution for Indonesia arts
and craft products. We offer the products of
our suppliers to qualified business buyers,
not to end-users to consumers, with the
exceptions of certain items from our Antique
and Fine Art Galleries.
With the evolution of the internet as an
important commercial trading platform, our
business model is relatively new, but
basically an adaptation of the traditional
ways of doing business. We are essentially a
hybrid breed or cross between an online
manufacturers representative and buying agent.
Our income is derived from two sources :
annual subscriptions fees and transaction
commissions. The annual subscriptions fee is
paid by the vendors listed on our trading
community. This fee is to cover design,
hosting and maintenance costs. The
transactions commission is also paid by the
supplier and is based on FOB ( port of
departure ) price terms. We also offer the
services of a traditional buying agent
including product development, sampling,
communication support, quality control,
logistical coordination and other basic
services. Normally, the buyer pays the buying
agent a commission for these services … we are
trying something new.
Okypanditabali.Com acts as an intermediary
between buyers and suppliers and all
transactions will be processed through as. Our
philosophy is that while the Internet bridges
the gap between buyers and suppliers in many
respects, it does not completely bridge the
gap between buyers and suppliers in many
respects, it does not completely bridge the
cultural and social gap and the impact it has
on communication and business process. In
addition, while the Internet is evolving
rapidly in emerging market economies,
e-commerce solution are still relatively
limited in Indonesia and our suppliers see us
as a relatively low cost Internet marketing
strategy and like the Catalogue Product
concept.
FULFILMENT &
DISTRIBUTION
While the Internet has exploded with many
solutions that get suppliers and buyers closer
together, we are still a few years away from
the "beam me down Scotty" transport technology
of the starship Enterprise and cannot yet send
40 foot containers in an e-mail attachment.
Until that's possible, we will have to deal
with the rather primitive traditional modes of
merchandise transport; sea and air cargo.
Two alternative are possible for container
cargo : FCL ( Full Container load ) and LCL (
Less than Container Load ). FCL is the most
economically feasible shipping alternative as
the lower cost reduces unit shipping costs.
The departure date of the goods is more
flexible and can be more closely synchronized
with the production schedule as the shipper is
not forced to wait for consolidation, as is
the case with LCL shipments, when the shipper
does not have enough merchandise to fill a
container and must wait until the freight
forwarder accumulates enough goods of the
other shippers to fill a container. In fact,
in some cases, it's cheaper to ship a half
-full ( or half-empty depending on your
philosophy ) Container than to ship LCL, as
shipping companies make food profit margins on
LCL business, due to the high pricing of this
container space. However, this must items
being shipped are small and light weight, or
if fast delivery is critical.
If necessary, Okypanditabali.Com will handle
packing and arrange shipment for goods sold on
FOB ( Port Of Departure ) price terms. The
buyer bears freight, documentation and
insurance transaction costs. We have an export
trade services alliance with DFDS Transport
and can quote very competitive sea and air
cargo shipping rates one we understand you
order. The main ports of departure are Bali
and Java ( Semarang and Jakarta ).
Since we a trading community composed of many
suppliers, we will consider consolidation of
orders placed with multiple vendors on case by
case basis. While we would like to offers this
services on an unconditional basis, it's not
yet feasible to do so. Our supplier are spread
throughout this 17,000-island archipelago,
which provides some unique logistical
challenges. Please inquire about the
consolidation possibility if you are
interested.
PRICES
Prices will be furnished upon request and
require completion of the online registration
from. We will provide price quotations on
specific product after we have verified you
registration information and determine that
you are a bonafide business buyer. We believe
that the basic energy fueling the Internet
revolution is "consumer empowerment". We are
not a trading company that "buys and sells" as
an intermediary taking a huge markup. As
previously mentioned, we take commission only
from the suppliers, which means that our
suppliers set their prices. We have wholesale
price lists from our suppliers. FOB prices
will normally be based on minimum order
quantities ( i.e. one 40 foot container
minimum ). While we do not control the pricing
of the products offered in our trading
community, we do encourage our vendors to
offer preferred " Internet " prices in the
Okypanditabali.Com trading community. We
reserve the right to change our commission
policy without notice. We are considering a
buyer commission, but would like to try this
new approach first.
LEAD TIMES (
Production & Delivery )
Production lead times very depending on the
size of the order, characteristics of the
product and the time years. Lead times can
range from 2 weeks for small craft items to 2
months for larger items like furniture and
event longer for knock down houses. Stock
items obviously do not have any production
lead time, but most of our vendors product to
order. If a community vendor maintains stock
in cataloged item, it is indicated as such.
Again, we will give you a better idea of the
required production lead-time once we
understand the compositions and requirements
of you order.
TRADE FINANCE
No major breakthroughs in Internet-based trade
finance solution yet (i.e. online LC's etc.).
So, the terms of payment are again
traditional. In some cases, we kill ask that
the buyer and supplier settle the financial
transaction between themselves. However, if
there is a need we may intermediate the
process. This will be determined on a
case-by-case basis. As LC's are dangerous
cumbersome and a huge administrative burden,
we Suggest 50 % of the payment by TT (
Telegraphic Transfer ) at the time the order
is placed and the balance of 50 % when the
goods are ready to ship. LC's should only be
considered in higher value transactions ( i.e.
> US$20.000 ) There are other financing
alternatives available, please inquire if
these methods do not meet your needs or if you
would like additional information.

For buyers, we are one-stop sourcing solution
for Indonesian arts and craft products. Member
buyers have full access to our vendor profiles
and product catalogs. We have an integrated
messaging system, which simply put means that
you can submit and manage inquires on our
website.
For now, buyers do not pay commissions or
subscriptions fees to use our service . To see

SUPPLIERS
For suppliers, we are an Internet marketing
solution with access to global markets. Our
vendors are pre-qualified and subject to a
site inspection and strict evaluation
procedure before being accepted into

They all produce export quality arts and
crafts products and have a strong customer
services orientation.

gallery pages or the vendor catalogs and
select the product of interest to you. The
"submit inquiry" button is located at the
bottom of each page.
Once products are added to the inquiry list,
the inquiry can be submitted.
Okypanditabali.Com will be the intermediary
between the party making the inquiry and the
vendors in our trading community. This is to
minimize the possibility of a miscommunication
and to make sure that the party initiating the
inquiry submits a complete inquiry before be
approach the vendor. On the other hand, we
will collect complete information from the
vendor to make sure that inquiry is fully
answered before we reply.
We will acknowledged inquiries with an
automated system, and endeavor to provide a
personalized and detailed response to all
inquires within 24 to 48 hours, depending on
the nature of the inquiry.
SERVICE
ORDERING
Okypanditabali.Com is a business - to -
business ( B2B ) Online Catalogue Product for
Indonesian arts and crafts products, Normally,
minimum order quantities will apply, however,
in the case of antiques and paintings we are
willing to process individual consumer orders.
Transactions that do not meet the minimum
order quantity may be subject to additional
handling and processing fees.
It is important to remember that each
transaction is unique and the terms and
conditions of a specific order will be
determined between the buyer and supplier
during the course of the communication.
MINIMUM ORDER
QUANTITY
One 20 foot container is our stated minimum
order quantity. If you are interested in
ordering less than the stated minimum
quantity, special service fees may apply.

PRICING - FOB BASIC
All prices posted on the website on a FOB (
port of departure ) basis. FOB pricing is
based on the standard minimum order quantity (
one 20 foot container ). Please inquire if you
are interested in ordering less than the
minimum. We may be able to help, but special
service fees may apply.
ORDER / INQUIRY
PROCESS:
We start with an "Inquiry Process" as it is
very unusual for a buyer to order directly
without posting specific questions first. Our
"Inquiry List" in similar to the "shopping
Cart" feature of a traditional
business-to-consumer ( B2C ) e-commerce site
like Amazon.com Through a series of
communication between the member buyer, member
vendor and Okypanditabali.Com a final order
will be determined and agreed upon.
After you register you may specify the items
of interest to you with our online inquiry
system. You are able to add items and
quantities desired to an"Inquiry list". This
starts the process as we must submit you
inquiry to each vendor to get answer to any
specific questions you may have.
Okypanditabali.Com Filters all communication
to facilitate an accurate and speedy
communication cycle time. A buyers final order
must be placed directly with the vendor.
PURCHASE ORDER :
We are working on an online Purchase Order
system and except it to be complete by the end
of March 2001. Then the buyer will be able to
execute PO'S on the Okypanditabali.Com
Catalogue Product Platform. Until then the
buyer must submit a PO to the vendor … sorry
for the temporary inconvenience.
INVOICING ;
Okypanditabali.Com Catalogue Product suppliers
will invoice buyers directly.
PAYMENT
The Customary method of settlement for
import/export transaction is by telegraphic
transfer ( TT ) or letter of credit ( LC ).
The supplier will normally require a 50 %
deposit to accept the order and start
production. The is partly to Mitigate the risk
of default by the ordering party and to
provide working capital to start production of
the order. When the order is complete, the
balance of 50 % of the payment is due to be
transferred before the export shipping
documentation is processed. Once the final
payment is received, the good will be process
for export and shipped.
CONSOLIDATION (
ANOTHER IMPORTANT NOTE );
Okypanditabali.Com does not guarantee that
orders from multiple vendors can be
consolidated. What does this mean ? As a
Online Catalogue Product, Okypanditabali.Com
has a many vendor members that are
geographically dispersed throughout Indonesia.
If you order several things from a vendor in
Bali and a few from a vendor Yogya, it may not
be economically feasible to consolidate those
items into one order and one shipment for due
to difficult logistics. I Proposes less of a
problem if the vendors are located in the same
general area (i.e. Bali ), but this may still
present problems in terms of synchronizing
production lead - times and delivery dates.
This must be considered on a case by case
basis. You will be able to see the vendor name
for each product in the "Inquiry Process" and
this will alert you to possible consolidation
challenge.
If you are interested in a product that you
can't find our Catalogue Product, let us know
and we will be able to find it for you or have
it made.
Once again, we are not a trading company. The
prices we offer trading community member are
the FOB prices of our vendors as defined above
( unless otherwise specified ) and we charge
the vendor a transaction commission to support
the trading community operations.
